This concerto for oboe and violin soloists occurs in the Opere Complete of Antonio Vivaldi (1675-1741) as F. XII n. 16. The house of Ricordi began issuing these scores of Vivaldi's instrumental works in 1947, the present volume appearing in 1949. The source manuscript is located in the Biblioteca Nazionale in Turino as part of the Renzo Giordano Collection.

Vivaldi's solo parts are idiomatically written, but what is most interesting is that this concerto is technically a modest work, perhaps one that was composed for the adolescent girls of the Seminario musicale dell' Ospitale della Pietà in Venice.

The exterior movements in Bb Major are set in Vivaldi's famous ritornello form; while the central movement Siciliano is laid out in binary form and in the relative minor, the orchestra reduced to just the continuo.
