The Music and Musicianship of Anish Raj Pandit
Keith Sorrels, oboe
Anish Raj Pandit is an oboist, singer, and composer. A graduate of Indiana University and the New England Conservatory, Pandit is currently a Musician-in-Residence at the National Centre for Performing Arts of India. His musicianship is informed by two musical traditions: Western art music and Indian classical. Pandit’s description of a heart- or mind-centered approach to performance can provide valuable insights for teachers and students. This lecture/recital will discuss Pandit’s musical philosophy in the context of three works for solo oboe: Three Näyikäs (2020), Baiyaan Na Dharo (2020), and Indian Nocturnes (2013).
