Michele Fiala, oboe
This recital includes selections from Bach cantatas that feature the oboe or oboe and soprano with strings and continuo - all of the juiciest obbligati that oboists love to play. I arranged the arias by key to create continuity. When we have performed this recital, we have done so continuously, as if parts of a multi-movement work (without applause breaks and without leaving stage). I’ve included one additional selection by Purcell in the recital in which the melody is shared by oboe and soprano.
