Description:Pfeiffer contra blank, summer of 1977. The shape is a little too narrow, and the fold was too thick - had to be made thinner to fold safely. Maximum length was used to gain width, but the center near the tip was a bit thin, causing the tone to be brighter than desired. The usual splitting and notching were used, with maximum stretching onto a mandrel to increase the diameter of the butt and tube. Used where appropriate in the fall of 1971 - Zarathustra, to save breath, for instance, and Sessions Concerto for Orchestra - exposed solos, quiet.
