My recital, From Latin America to the World: New Works for Oboe Solo and Oboe and Piano, is a compilation of pieces with Latin American themes, poems or composers in mind. The first piece is Un Teatro de Reflejos, a commission for Oboe and Piano by Paul Edwood, based on a poem by Octavio Paz. The second piece, is Gracias a la Vida for Oboe and Piano by Violeta Parra, Chilean composer, arranged by Brazilian composer Guilherme Almeida. The third, Dos Formas de Insomnio is a piece for Oboe Solo dedicated to me by American composer Alan Theisen, inspired by a poem of Jorge Luis Borges. The fourth piece Media Noche, a piece from the Suite Diaria for Oboe and Piano “Vals Oscuro” by Jorge Luis Alvarado Bravo. The last piece is a new arrangement for Oboe and Piano of Astor Piazzolla’s “Verano Porteño”, done by Cuban pianist Lourdes Santiesteban.
