This recital presents two new works by Russell Peterson, Associate Professor of Bassoon and Saxophone at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. The first piece is an arrangement for oboe, bassoon, piano, and tape of Kyle Eastwood's “Marrakech.” Mr. Peterson arranged this work in 2018 for violin, soprano saxophone, piano, and tape. We hope to premiere a double reed version at IDRS 2020 (now 2021). The second proposed work is Trio No. 2 for Oboe, Saxophone, and Piano, which Mr. Peterson originally composed for Flute, Saxophone, and Piano in 2011. Both works feature Mr. Peterson's trademark imaginative, colorful, and highly-charged compositional style, which seamlessly combines jazz and classical elements.
