Double Concerto for Clarinet and Bassoon (Chamber Version)
Terry Ewell, bassoon; John Weigand, clarinet; Eva Mengelkoch, piano
This performance is the world premiere of the chamber version of Jonathan Leshnoff’s Double Concerto for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Orchestra, commissioned by the Pittsburgh Symphony in 2018. Leshnoff and Ewell are colleagues at Towson University and advice on the bassoon was provided by Ewell during the development of the work. The orchestral version of the work was premiered by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Spring 2019 with Nancy Gores. The composer has asked Ewell and colleagues to give the world premiere of the chamber version of the work, scored for clarinet, bassoon and piano. This version is being completed by the composer himself.

Leshnoff is a Grammy Nominated composer whose orchestral works have been performed by 70 orchestras and has been commissioned by Carnegie Hall, the Philadelphia, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Kansas City, and Nashville Orchestras. Leshnoff has been ranked among the most performed living composers by American orchestras.
